1 small onion, finely chopped (about 1 cup / 150 g)
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup (30 g) all-purpose flour
2 cups (480 ml) whole milk
1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream
1 cup (100 g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup (50 g) grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon (5 g) salt
1/2 teaspoon (2 g) black pepper
1/2 teaspoon (2 g) paprika
1 tablespoon (15 ml) fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons (8 g) chopped fresh parsley

For the topping:
1 1/2 cups (150 g) breadcrumbs
4 tablespoons (60 g) unsalted butter, melted
1/4 cup (25 g) grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon (5 g) chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch (23×33 cm) baking dish.

  • Melt butter in a skillet and sauté onion until soft. Add garlic and cook briefly.
