Overnight French Toast Casserole is a baked breakfast dish made with cubed bread soaked in a sweet vanilla custard and chilled overnight before baking to golden perfection.
1 loaf brioche or French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes (about 10 cups)
8 large eggs
2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter, for greasing dish
Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
Spread cubed bread evenly in the dish.
In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugars, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
Pour custard evenly over bread and press gently to absorb.
Cover and refrigerate at least 6 hours or overnight.
Remove from refrigerator and let stand 20 minutes while oven preheats to 350°F.
Bake uncovered for 45 to 50 minutes until golden and set.
Rest 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
