A quick and flavorful dish that balances sweet honey, savory garlic, and tender shrimp for a restaurant-quality meal in under 30 minutes.
· 1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
· 3 tablespoons olive oil
· 4 cloves garlic, minced
· 1/4 cup honey
· 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
· 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
· 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
· 2 tablespoons water
· 1 teaspoon cornstarch
· 2 green onions, sliced for garnish
· Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
1. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, ginger, water, and cornstarch. Set aside.
2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove shrimp and set aside.
3. In the same skillet, sauté garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant.
4. Pour in the honey-garlic sauce, cook 1-2 minutes until slightly thickened. Return shrimp to skillet and toss to coat.
5. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
· Avoid overcooking shrimp to keep them tender.
· Adjust honey for sweetness preference.
· Add a squeeze of lemon or lime for freshness.
Optional: increase red pepper flakes for heat or toss in vegetables for a one-pan meal
