A creamy, oven-baked shrimp dish with a golden cheese and breadcrumb topping that’s comforting, elegant, and easy to prepare.
Raw shrimp (peeled and deveined): 1 lb (450 g)
Unsalted butter: 3 tablespoons (42 g)
Olive oil: 1 tablespoon
Garlic, finely minced: 3 cloves
Heavy cream: 1 ½ cups (360 ml)
Whole milk: ½ cup (120 ml)
All-purpose flour: 2 tablespoons (16 g)
Salt: ¾ teaspoon
Black pepper: ½ teaspoon
Paprika: ½ teaspoon
Grated nutmeg: a small pinch
Shredded mozzarella cheese: 1 cup (100 g)
Grated Parmesan cheese: ½ cup (50 g)
Breadcrumbs: ½ cup (30 g)
Fresh parsley, finely chopped: 2 tablespoons
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
Season shrimp lightly and arrange evenly in the dish.
Melt butter and olive oil in a saucepan; add garlic and cook briefly.
Whisk in flour, then slowly add milk and cream until thickened.
Season and stir in half the cheeses until smooth.
Pour sauce over shrimp.
Combine breadcrumbs with remaining cheeses and sprinkle on top.
Bake uncovered for 22–25 minutes until golden and bubbling.
Rest briefly, garnish with parsley, and serve warm.
Use raw shrimp and freshly grated cheese for the best texture and flavor. Avoid overbaking to keep the shrimp tender and the sauce creamy.
